About St. Francis de Sales High School

St. Francis de Sales High School (SFDS) is Chicago’s oldest co-educational Catholic high school. The school is located in the traditionally working-class neighborhood of Chicago’s historical East Side. The parish school began in 1893 and the four-year high school has been in existence since 1937. SFDS is a small, community school serving a growing student body who reflect the diverse social, intellectual, economic, cultural and religious make-up of the area. Last year, the school welcomed their new leader and school alumna, Roni Facen. Her transformational leadership has engaged and energized alumni, partners and families in the mission of St. Francis de Sales High School and the school’s commitment to supporting students and the community they serve.

Our school is supported by the Big Shoulders Fund, which recognizes the importance and exceptional value that our school provides to families and the important role we play in the community

Grant Supports Differentiation, Instruction and Technology

Thanks to the Koch Foundation in Florida, we have two grants supporting St. Francis de Sales.

This year through their grant, we have engaged in a three-year subscription with Edgenuity to ensure we are properly supporting all of our students. We understand every student learns differently and Edgenuity gives our teachers the ability to differentiate their instruction. It also allows our students to engage at appropriate levels for their ability and finally, it helps us ensure that all of our students can meet standards. We also purchased fifty new Earth Science and Biology textbooks that will further support our science faculty in their classroom instruction and engage and challenge students at every level!

The Koch Foundation has also supported our technology initiative and goal to be 1:1 this fall. Working with BIg Shoulders Fund and other avenues, we are in the process of upgrading our technology and will share more about this initiative this summer.

THANKS to the foundation for your continued support!
