New Head Boys Basketball Coach Named

Kevin Wolfe returns to lead the Boys Varsity Basketball program for the 2014-2015 year, with Assistant Varsity Coach Rex Martin.

Chicago, IL-- St. Francis De Sales High School announced today that former basketball coach Kevin Wolfe will lead the school’s boys basketball program next school year. Assisting Coach Wolfe will be Rex Martin, current Social Studies and Business teacher at St. Francis De Sales High School and former freshman basketball coach of Mt. Carmel.

Coach Wolfe returns to St. Francis de Sales with over 20 years of experience coaching basketball programs at all ages and levels, including AAU. His tenure at St. Francis de Sales brought the first winning record to the school in 2012 after nearly a decade. “I am looking forward to coming back to de Sales. I believe we can build our program to be a proud member of the Catholic League. We have enough talent here and a strong base of players. Coach Martin and I will work closely together to ensure our students are ready to play and to give their best each and every day,” said Kevin Wolfe.

Rex Martin brings seven years of basketball experience coaching the Mt. Carmel freshman team where his team had three conference championships and a player retention rate of 99%, something both he and Coach Wolfe know is critical to building a program. “I am very excited to join Coach Wolfe to help build the program to the level expected of the Pioneer community. We want success for our current students and for the future generation of Pioneers,” said Rex Marin.

St. Francis leadership understands that athletics and extracurricular activities are critical to a student’s success. “Coach Wolfe and Coach Martin are the kind of team we need in our athletic program -- they understand what student athletes need to do to be successful on and off the court. There are great changes happening at St. Francis,” said Mary Reid, Director of Student Services. The new coaching staff will begin meeting with students and families this school year.
